Baptism

Baptism

Baptism is an outward expression of our faith in and commitment to Jesus Christ. If you are interested in being baptized or finding out when the next baptism class is, please call the church office (250) 498-4253 orĀ email us.

What is Baptism?

Baptism is an outward act of obedience declaring publicly that we have accepted Jesus Christ as the forgiver and leader of our lives. Baptism is important first and foremost because Jesus has commanded that all of His followers be baptized. Baptism is also a powerful public expression of what Jesus Christ has done in our lives; forgiving us, cleansing us and giving us a new life filled with hope and purpose.

How Do We Baptize?

At Oliver Alliance, we baptize by immersion. This means that when someone is baptized, they are fully submerged under the water and then brought back up out of the water. We understand this to be the practice of the early Christians in the New Testament.

Who Should Be Baptized?

Since baptism portrays a decision to follow Jesus, we only baptize those who have made their own personal commitment to Jesus Christ. Rather than baptizing infants, we dedicate infants and parents to God during our worship services.
